Every retreat will have a seasonally relevant theme, all focussed around wellness, mindfulness and self-care.
The practice on each day retreat is different, chosen to suit the attendees and theme. It is accessible to everyone, so no previous experience is required. The first session is active hatha yoga, getting the body moving but taking time to dwell in the postures for deeper access and relaxation. After lunch, there is a mindful activity that could revolve around a walking meditation in the grounds, a pranayama practice inside, a seated meditation and guided breathing relaxation, or a coaching task all dependent on the weather! The afternoons are about relaxing. A gentle yin yoga practice using bolsters and blankets takes us into a yoga nidra session, which means at least 40 minutes of guided yogic sleep. You will definitely leave feeling blissfully relaxed and restored!
Oakley Hall is a wonderfully comfortable venue for day retreats, with carpeted rooms and wonderfully wide windows offering beautiful views of the garden. When the weather is warm, we take the mats outside into the orchard, kitchen garden or underneath the shady trees. We also have access to an airy patio for enjoying our lunch and breaktimes al fresco. On cooler days, we practice inside where the room is comfortably warm. There is free parking for everyone. I have agreed a special deal with Oakley Hall for overnight stays at reduced prices. Please ask if you want to give yourself the full retreat experience by staying over the night before.
We are never hungry at Oakley Hall! The morning starts with breakfast pastries and hot drinks. At lunchtime we are treated to a tasty light buffet lunch, consisting of salads and finger foods finished off with dessert. We finish with delicate cakes from the afternoon tea trolley. And there is always a massive bowl of fruit on the table for nibbling during the day. All hot drinks and water is included too.
